Cancun y Tulum, Mexico

5 days in Riviera Maya

Night 1:

To get from airport into town take the ADO bus (see agent right when you leave customs) which costs 72 pesos to the Cancun station. From here take Uber $5-10 (illegal? Proceed with caution)

Dinner at Navíos: seafood & margaritas (see photo below) we liked the tiny (crab?) quesadillas & coconut shrimp

Day 2:

shopping & lunch at Mercado 23

Restaurante Doris $5 lunch: the BEST mole enchiladas + fresh mixed fruit juice

Day 3:

took the ADO bus (first class) to Tulum for $5- it is direct, air conditioned and drops you right downtown

Accommodations: Prana Boutique Hotel – glamping!!! I absolutely recommend this place.

Dinner at Hartwood – fire roasted octopus to die for & pineapple jalapeño margaritas. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat! This is a MUST go if you’re in Tulum.

Day 4: Attempted walk on beach to ruins (unsuccessful, but enjoyed the sunshine & relaxed)

Amazing vegan lunch (enchiladas & kombucha mojitos) at Co.conamor – I could eat like this every day of my life! This is another must in my opinion..

after lunch: siesta, bike ride, pool time (and we picked up our ADO tickets for the following morning)

On the walk home we had to stop for some freshly made vegan ice cream (before dinner because it’s vacation) the mango+banana+cardamom and almond+coffee+cacao were both fantastic!

Dinner at Posada Margarita (good pasta, better location: ocean view)

Day 5: ADO bus to Dreams Riviera Resort Cancun re: Armstrong wedding

Other recommendations/things to do next time (in Tulum):

Visit ruins & cenotes! (recommended: Gran, Casa, Dos Ojos & Encantado)

Eat: Tulum Art Club (coffee), Casa Jaguar (drinks), Mur Mur (Dinner). Mezcal Nawake, Taqueria Honorio & Taqueria El Nero.
